Real-world Dynamic .NET

Mark Rendle

This talk takes a look at the new dynamic features in .NET 4, and aims to cover the things which rely on this feature (such as COM interop in Silverlight 4); highlight some neat use-cases that will be useful across a range of projects; and maybe show that dynamic can grant some of the "I wish I coulds" that crop up in day-to-day programming. We'll also take a look inside IronMock, a mocking library which uses embedded IronRuby within a C# project to achieve results that were previously only possible with the System.Reflection.Emit library.

Mark is currently employed as a Senior Software Architect by Dot Net Solutions Ltd, creating all manner of software on the Microsoft stack, including ASP.NET MVC, WPF and Silverlight.
His career in software design and development spans three decades and more programming languages than he can remember. C# has been his favourite language pretty much since the first public beta, when you had to write the code in a text editor and compile it on the command line. Those were the days. You kids today, with your IntelliSense and your ReSharpers, don’t know you’re born...
Things vying for his attention lately include functional programming, internet-centric applications, the Azure cloud platform and NoSQL data stores.

OpenWrap

Sebastien Lambla

OpenWrap is currently classified as a package management system. In reality, it’s an export management system. The reason for OpenWrap existing is to deliver components, static files, executable tools or otherwise to whatever environment is needing it, be it at development time within Visual Studio, at deployment time when pushing an OpenRasta or MVC web-site, or at run-time for a rich client.

Sebastien Lambla runs Caffeine IT, a .net consultancy / contracting company helping the good people of London adopt new technologies, new processes, new methodologies and in general anything that's new and shiny. Specializing in cutting-edge tools, from REST architectures to occasionally connected rich clients, Sebastien has been developing with .net since 2000, and has a secret love affair with javascript. In his spare time he’s working on OpenRasta, a resource-oriented MVC framework for .net.
